What AOI inspection verifies
AOI inspection checks missing components, wrong orientation, polarity, skew, tombstone, insufficient solder, solder bridge and placement accuracy. It is a powerful inline control method because it provides fast feedback during SMT production.
What X-Ray inspection reveals
X-Ray inspection is used for hidden solder joints such as BGA, QFN, LGA and bottom-terminated components. It helps analyze voiding, insufficient solder, bridging, open joints and package-related solder issues that cannot be fully confirmed by visual inspection.
How to choose the right inspection strategy
AOI is suitable for broad production coverage and visible process control. X-Ray should be added when the assembly includes BGA, QFN, high-reliability products or failure analysis requirements. For critical products, AOI and X-Ray should not compete; they should complement each other.
YourPCB inspection-driven manufacturing
YourPCB integrates SPI, AOI, X-Ray, ICT, programming and functional testing to help customers verify quality from solder paste printing to final shipment readiness.
RFQ preparation checklist
A clear RFQ package allows the engineering team to identify manufacturability risk earlier and respond with more accurate technical feedback. Before sending a request, prepare production data, target quantity, delivery expectations and quality requirements as completely as possible.
- Gerber / ODB++ data and fabrication drawing
- BOM, Pick & Place and assembly drawing when SMT is required
- Stack-up, impedance targets and material requirements
- Inspection, programming, ICT / FCT and packaging requirements
Why customers work with YourPCB
YourPCB combines engineering review, controlled PCB fabrication, SMT assembly, inspection, testing and responsive communication. The goal is not only to deliver boards, but to help customers reduce technical uncertainty before production and improve long-term manufacturing reliability.
